Our Projects
The MSHS Green Team has worked on many projects over the years, all in hope to establish a more sustainable and low-impact school. We are currently a Level 1 Green School and hope to advance this recognition by starting new projects within our school to become more environmentally friendly.

Recycling! We started a lunchtime recycling program and continue to encourage and educate the student body on how to recycle properly in order to reduce our school's waste. In 2023, we brought bringing recycling to sports games, to minimize the amount of bottles and cans that go into landfills.

Restoration! The MSHS Green Team has been working on restoring the Kimball Creek Slough--a wetland near the Snoqualmie River--since 2017. At the site, we have removed invasive plants, reintroduced several native plant species, and removed a significant amount of junk from the area.

Compost! As of 2024, we have finally implemented a composting program into our school. This program will reduce the methane created by food rotting in landfills and will provide organic fertilizer for local gardens and farms. Additionally, we are collaborating with the Snoqualmie Valley Food Bank to donate clean, uneaten fruits and vegetables from lunchtime.
